Virtual Learning Option

Cleburne County Schools Virtual Program 

Eligibility Requirements

  • The Virtual Learning Option is available for students in grades 6 – 12 only if they have a medically diagnosed, life-endangering condition, extreme personal hardship, or another committee-approved justifiable case.
  • Students who have recently failed classes do not qualify for the Virtual Learning Option.
  • Students completing coursework in the Virtual Program will not be eligible for Valedictorian or Salutatorian upon graduation.
  • Honors level courses cannot be guaranteed for students in Imagine Edgenuity.

Application Process

Students that are interested in the Virtual Learning Option may ONLY apply at the Cleburne County Board Office by contacting Kevin Boyd at the Cleburne County Board of Education office (256) 463-5624.  Students may not apply for the Virtual Learning Option at any school campus. 

The steps for applying for the Virtual Learning Option are:

  1. Guardians must turn in the Virtual Learning Option Application and ALL necessary medical documentation to Mr. Boyd at the Cleburne County Board Office at 141 Davenport Drive, Heflin, AL.  The Virtual Learning Application may be downloaded from the Cleburne County Schools website or a copy may be picked up at the Cleburne County Board Office.  

  2. All documentation will be validated.

  3. After validation of documents, the Virtual Learning Committee will meet to discuss the case and decide if circumstances warrant the extreme need for virtual learning.

  4. Parents/Guardians will be notified of the Virtual Learning Committee’s decision.  Those students that qualify for the Virtual Learning Option will be given further instructions at the time of notification.

    NOTE:  UNTIL PARENTS ARE NOTIFIED WITH THE VIRTUAL LEARNING COMMITTEE'S DECISION, THE STUDENT WILL BE REGISTERED AS A TRADITIONAL STUDENT WHICH WILL AFFECT ATTENDANCE RECORDS.
