Ranburne High School
Class of 1989
Teacher at Ranburne High School
An honor graduate, varsity cheerleader and basketball player, Mrs. Rainey was also voted “Most School Spirit” and selected as Homecoming Queen at RHS. She was in the drama club, FCA, SADD, and on the math team.
“Being a part of the Cleburne County School System prepared me academically for what was to come in college. Coming from a small school system, I feel that I was able to get the best education possible because the teachers were able to spend time with me individually if I needed extra help. I also feel that Cleburne County Schools helped me to want to be successful in all that I set out to do”, believes Rainey.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in middle grades education and a master’s degree in early childhood education. Mrs. Rainey was selected as the RHS Teacher of the Year for 2017 and was also selected as Keep It In Cleburne Teacher of the Year in 2015.
Rainey says that being a student in this system is “like being in a big family”.
She said, “Teachers always wanted us to do well and saw to it that we worked to be the best possible in all that we did. Being a cheerleader and playing basketball, I was able to create many lasting memories! The coaches and teachers helped to instill a sense of pride that I still have for RHS today”.
She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Greg Rainey, for 28 years. They have two children, Kayla and Wil, who are also alumni of Ranburne High School. Kayla graduated in 2008, and Wil graduated in 2017. She enjoys spending time at a Rock Springs Baptist Church where she teaches the Older/Younger Children's Sunday School class and enjoys singing in the choir. Spending time at the beach, reading, planting flowers and working in her yard are among her favorite things to do.
